Tribute to Perry Bamonte, 1960 - 2025
I had (have) always wanted to meet members of the band ever since I discovered The Cure in 1985. In 1990, I believe it was right after he joined the band, I came to the venue early hoping to hear sound check and meet one of them. I made it to the front of the line and was one of the first to enter. Even though I didn’t have floor seats, I was able to walk up to the stage and there was Perry shifting some cords around. I motioned him over and said I just want to say congratulations and welcome to the band. He seemed shy and said thank you and shook my hand. I asked him how things have changed since joining. His reply? “Not much at all” we both laughed and he said, I hope you enjoy the show. I have seen The Cure 23 times across America and this one holds a sweet spot for me. Thank you Perry for giving me a unique once in a lifetime experience with the band that I adore mire than any.
